Zumbrota Township is a township in Goodhue County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 591 at the 2000 census. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 34.8 square miles (90.2 km²), all of which is land. The township was organized in 1858 and has a population of 591 as of the census of 2000. The median income for a household in the township was $62,188, and the median income. for a family was $66,484. About 4.4% of families and 6.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.3% of those under age 18 and 8.1% ofThose age 65 or over. The average household size was 2.84 and the average family size was 3.17. The racial makeup of the township is 98.14% White, 0.34% African American,0.51% from other races, and 0.68% from two or more races. There were 214 housing units at an average density of 6.1/sq mi (2.4/km²), with the township having a median age of 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 111.8 males. The per capita income for the township in 2000 was $21,372. It was $40,938 for males and $26,023 for females. It is the only township in the state of Minnesota that does not have a city.

History

Zumbrota Township was organized in 1858. It was named after Zumbro, a town in the state of Georgia. The town has a population of about 2,000. It is located on the Georgia-Oklahoma border. The township was once a part of the State of Georgia, now it is part of Oklahoma. It has a total population of 2,099, with the majority of its residents living in the town of Zumb rota. The Township was once part of Georgia-Osage, a state in the U.S. state of Oklahoma, until it became part of Texas in the 1950s. It now has a little more than 1,000 residents. The community is known for its beautiful scenery and natural scenery. It also has a number of historic sites, such as the Zumb Rota River, which runs through the town. The village has a history of being a center of learning for many people in the area. It's also known for being a popular tourist destination, especially in the late 1800s and early 1900s, when it was known as "Zumb Roa" The town's name means "the town of the river" or "the river" in the local dialect. It became a township in the 1800s, and it was named for the town's river, which was once called "Zumbo" and "Zurrota" The township's name is still used as a reference to the Zumbo River, a tributary of the Mississippi.

It was the first township in the state to vote for the Democratic Party presidential candidate in 1988. The Republican Party of New Jersey has not won a presidential election since 1988. It has been the most Democratic-leaning township since the 1980s.
