Drayton is a city in Pembina County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 757 at the 2020 census. American Crystal Sugar operates a sugar refinery on the outskirts of town, providing 140 year round and 75 seasonal jobs. A drawbridge, built in anticipation of riverboat traffic returning to the upper Red River, was built in 1911 to connect Drayton to Minnesota. Because of low river levels the riverboats never materialized, with the result that the drawbridge never needed to be raised. The city is located at 48°3340N 97°1046W (48.561091, -97.179414).According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.65 square miles (1.68 km²), all land. It was originally called Hastings Landing, and was given its present name by Canadian settlers from Drayon, Ontario, in 1878. The main employer in the area is American Crystal sugar, which operates a Sugar Refinery on the outside of the city. The city is located on the Ohio River, which flows through the city. The Ohio River is a tributary of the Little Ohio River which runs through the center of Drayton. It is also known as the "Ohio River Valley" because of its riverbed. The town's name means "the river valley" or "the valley of the river" in the local dialect. It has a population of 1,000. It was founded in the 19th century by a group of local farmers. The current mayor is the son of a former mayor of the same name, who was killed in a car accident in the early 1900s. He was elected to the city's first post-secondary school in the 1930s, and to the state legislature in the 1950s and 1960s, when he served as mayor of Drrayton. He is currently a member of the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate. He has served in the state Senate since the 1970s, as well as the state House of Reps. since the 1980s and the state Assembly. He also served as president of the state of Ohio in the 1990s and 2000s, during which time he was re-elected to a second term.

The town is located on the Red River near the town of St. Paul, Minnesota, in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The Red River flows into the Mississippi River, which flows into Lake Superior. The city's name is derived from the word "drayton" which means "drainage" or "dredge" in English. It is also known as "Drayton Landing" and "Hastings Landing" because of its location on the river. It has a population of about 2,000 people, most of whom live in and around the city of Drrayton. It also has a post office, which was established in 1881. The village is located in the Canadian province of Ontario, and was once part of the Province of Quebec. It now has a little more than 1,000 residents and is located near the city's downtown area, near St. Peter, Minnesota.

Baseball Capital of North Dakota

In 1958, Governor John Davis declared Drayton the baseball capital of North Dakota. The town won the state High School baseball championship every year from 1958 to 1963. In 1958 and 1962, they also won the American Legion class A championship. After winning the state title in 1958, they went on to win the multi-state regional championship. These wins made Drayston the smallest town to win both the state and regional class A titles. In 1963, they won the regional championship again, making them the only town in North Dakota to win two regional titles in one year. In 1964, they were the first town in the state to win three consecutive regional championships. In 1965, they became the first North Dakota town to do so in four consecutive years. In 1966, the town was the first to win four consecutive regional titles. They were the only North Dakota city to do this. In 1967, the city was the second to do it in a row, and the first in a year and a half. In 1968, the state was the only state in the United States to win multiple regional titles at the same time. In 1969, the U.S. won the World Series for the first time in the history of the game. In 1970, the North Dakota State University baseball team won its first state title. In 1971, the team won the national championship. In 1972, the school won the world championship for the second time in its history. In 1973, the South Dakota State High School team won their first state championship in the class A division.
